PLOUESCAT, A SEASIDE RESORT FOR ALL SEASONS !
Have a break at Plouescat, officially classified as a seaside resort, and a member of the "Stations Nouvelle Vague de Bretagne" !
Here, you find the magical changing countryside, the secrets of the fantastic rocks…
The exceptional coast (about 15 km), a range of nautical activities (optimist, sandyachting, nautical promenade in sea kayak, catamaran…), the fine sandy beaches, the creeks and rocky beaches, the different rambling possibilities (on foot, VTT, horseback), a rich megalithic heritage (a covered alley dating from the Neolithic Time, one of the highest menhirs in France, …), the Halles of XVI° C., unique in Finistere, the strange shape rocks like Roc'h Paotred ar Sabat, also called "Rocher des lutins" (rock of the sprites), the Casino, place of gaming, the marine horse race courses of the Kernic Bay organized since 1882, lots of festivals and animations, … That's what Plouescat offers you all year round !
2008, like in 2007, Brittany will celebrate its Gastronomy… The occasion, for you, to taste the best local dishes and discover the Breton cuisine : renowned Breton pancakes and Far (pastry), the Pastes (typical Leon Region brioche), the Kig ha Farz- the Leon Region stew-, cooking with algae (The Leon coast is the largest field of seaweeds in the world), seafood, shells and fishes, lots of vegetables- Plouescat is located on the "Breton Golden Belt"- : artichokes, cabbage flowers or broccolis are typical vegetables of our markets…, Breton beverages : ciders, chouchenn (drink made out of honey), …
New potatoes in chive creams, with ham.
Serves 4 persons : 800 g small new potatoes // small carton double cream // 2 tablespoons chopped chives // 8 cherry tomatoes // 12 small slices of Parma ham // Watercress or lamb's lettuce to garnish // Seasoning, and paprika.
Preparation time : 10 mins // Cooking time : 10 mins.
- Quarter the unpeeled potatoes, place in a pan of cold salted water, and bring to the boil for approximately 20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes, peel off the skins, and leave to cool.
- Mix the cream with the chives, and season with salt and pepper.
- Add the potatoes, and arrange on serving plates, with cornets of ham.
- Garnish with quartered cherry tomatoes, and watercress or lamb's lettuce, and dust lightly with paprika.
- Best served with the potatoes still slightly warm- do not chill in a fridge.
